Bosch: Legacy Concludes, New Spinoff with Maggie Q Announced for 2025

*Bosch: Legacy* Concludes; New Spinoff with Maggie Q as Renée Ballard Announced

The conclusion of *Bosch: Legacy* has been announced ahead of the series’ return to Prime Video. With the time spent on the original series included, Titus Welliver, who serves as both actor and executive producer, has portrayed Detective Harry Bosch since 2014. *Bosch: Legacy* is set to return for its third season, functioning as a direct continuation of the original series. This spinoff has reintroduced characters like attorney Honey Chandler, played by Mimi Rogers, and Maddie Bosch, portrayed by Madison Lintz, who is Harry’s daughter. Season 2 concluded with Maddie doubting her trust in her father and his capabilities.

Michael Connelly, the author of the books that inspired *Bosch*, announced the series’ conclusion through a contemplative post on Instagram. You can view it below:

It has also been confirmed that the third season of *Bosch: Legacy* will debut in March 2025 on both Freevee and Prime Video. While Connelly did not specify a reason for the show’s conclusion in his Instagram announcement, he hinted at Welliver’s return, stating, “If you know anything about my books, then you know you have not seen the last of Harry Bosch!”

Bosch’s Legacy Will Continue with a New Spinoff

The Spinoff Features Maggie Q

Although the action drama is concluding on Prime Video, following a pivotal finale in *Bosch: Legacy* Season 2, Welliver is set to reprise his role in an upcoming spinoff centered around the character Renée Ballard, also created by Connelly. This character, who oversees the LAPD’s underfunded cold case division, will be portrayed by *Nikita* star Maggie Q. Below is an official synopsis of the new series, anticipated to premiere in 2025:

The series chronicles Detective Renée Ballard, charged with managing the LAPD’s new cold case division—a minimally funded, volunteer-driven unit burdened with the city’s most extensive caseload. Ballard tackles these unresolved cases with empathy and tenacity. As she unravels a larger conspiracy through her investigations, she will rely on the support of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the perils threatening her unit and her life.

*Bosch* and the Ballard spinoff will frequently intersect, at least initially. Maggie Q will intersect with Titus Welliver’s Harry Bosch in the Season 3 finale of *Bosch: Legacy*, which now also serves as the series finale. This episode will partially act as Ballard’s introductory appearance. Welliver is expected to reprise his iconic role in three episodes during the spinoff’s first season, potentially providing closure to his longstanding character, depending on when the spinoff premieres in fall 2025.

The Renée Ballard series is currently in production, assembling a cast that includes John Carroll Lynch, known for his roles in *American Horror Story* and *Zodiac*. It remains uncertain if Welliver will continue his role as Bosch beyond assisting in the spinoff’s launch. However, this development suggests that his enduring character may continue to appear, alongside those closest to him, even if he is no longer the primary focus.
